Oppenheimer (2023) MOVIE REVIEW

Oppenheimer (2023)
A Film by Christopher Nolan

Overview
The film is based on the book "American Prometheus," we get the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer who was brought on by Lewis Strauss to helm the Manhattan Project that led to the creation of the atomic bomb but Nolan's focus was on the mam himself and not the bomb which proves to be brilliant as we get a deep and haunting character study of the aftermath and see how this action led to not only thousands of deaths in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but the guilt and weight that the "man who moved the earth" was forced to live with.

There is so much to say, yet not going into details. There is very little or no CGI, there is no spectacular nuclear explosions as one might expect, nor there is war or action, just outstanding cinematography and Impeccable acting. The movie is a journey through the life of J Robert Oppenheimer, the story of an extraordinary man portrayed as ordinarily as possible.

Positives
The highlight of the movie for me was the intense exchanges and terrific transitions  between the characters and contexts edited to perfection switching between timelines whilst creatively linking decisive moments. The ever present background score brings another level to the enthralling moments of the movie whether its conversation or critical visuals.

Cillian Murphy delivered a stellar and composed performance even after it being such a deeply complex character touching a variety of emotions as he questions his morality amidst the anxiety and fear of the consequences of his actions. Not to
Mention the wonderful supporting cast of Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Josh Peck and of course Emily Blunt, who is surely going to be nominated for best supporting actress.

The cinematography and magnificent visualization brings the movie more intense and thought provoking. Especially the Trinity Test sequences are excellently executed by the master craftsman. Also it is the major highlight scene in the film.

Negatives
The 3hr+ duration felt me sometimes little lagging in between the narration of the story. It could have been trimmed for more better experience. Also this film has its intensity in the conversations between the characters. So the normal audience might not understand some situations in the narrative. If you are a fanatic of Nolan films you know the flaws and turns but it's little bit difficult for the normal audience. So please take a show with subtitle.

My Opinion
It's not a bad movie and not a highly exceptional movie. If you are a die-hard Nolan fan you will definitely get a different experience but for the normal audience they might not digest the film completely. It's a biopic not a movie for mass audience. I liked the treatment and making of the film but not completely satisfied.
