THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME (2024) TAMIL MOVIE REVIEW

๐ŸŽฌ THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME (2024)

A VENKAT PRABHU HERO

Overview

After the huge success of the Blockbuster "Maanaadu", Venkat Prabhu's most awaited outing is "The GOAT" with Thalapathy Vijay in the lead, with a vast supporting cast of Sneha, Laila, Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Jayaram and many more exciting surprise cameos. One of the initial buzz regarding the concept of the film was a sci-fi + time loop genre, but now I realised that it's just a buzz only.

The film depicts the family life and the professional life of Mr. MS Gandhi , An undercover agent of the Special Anti Terrorist Squad called 'SATS'. Sneha played the pair of Gandhi and they leads a happy family life. Gandhi was assigned by an operation held in Bangkok, after that his entire life was changed and his family life was broken. The film portrayed the after life of Gandhi and his family especially his Son named 'Jeeva'. As you know from the trailer the character 'Jeeva' played by the De-Aged Vijay only. But I think it's using VFX instead of the De-aging technology. Because of a specific scene of the 16 year old Vijay character. At this scene evidently shows that the character was made by VFX only. Anyway I will explain about those characters in detail below. Here we have a look at the Positives.

POSITIVES ๐Ÿ‘Œ

The Greatest Attraction of All Time - Thalapathy Vijay.

This man is the first and last highlight of the film. The brand value of the Man holds the entire movie in his shoulder. If anyone other than Vijay attempts this film, it will be a huge disaster in the box-office. Vijay did a great job within his limitations. The Father and the Son characters are done in his own style and mannerisms but his performance just elevated the whole movie. This is 100% A Typical Vijay Film but he did his part very well. The 'Gandhi' and 'Jeeva' characters and their combination scenes are the best part of the film. Initially the De-Aged look of the younger Vijay was slightly irritable but after that I synced with that look and physique of the character. Also the negative shades and psychic mannerisms of that character was looks so different.

Decent Cinematography

Sidhartha Nuni created some good visuals and frames for the aspect of a Mass Masala Movie. Especially the beginning portions of the Train Attacking sequences are greatly visualized even with the average VFX quality. Also the interval block and the Climax portions are the best moments in the movie. He done his work decently.

Action Setpieces & Stunt Choreography

Dhilip Subbarayan, who directed the stunning action sequences and the fights for the film. The chasing and fight scenes at the metro station is my favourite portions. The excellent stunt choreography was more engaged me with the film even when the most of the things were going wrong, this will explain in the Negatives below.

NEGATIVES ๐Ÿ‘Ž

The Weakest Script of All Time - Venkat Prabhu and his Wasted Vision ๐Ÿ™

The director Venkat Prabhu told in the pre release events and some interviews, that this film is 100% his vision and concept, also he and his brother Premji Amaran were elevated the hype of the film unnecessarily through the interviews. This will negatively affected the film and the important thing is that this film and it's script is an utter scrap item which was used in the stone age period cinema. First time, I am experienced a FDFS of a Vijay Film with No Goosebumps scenes, No High Moments, not even a good dialogue delivery. This film is completely spoiled by the Director itself. Before the release, my one and only hope for this movie is in the name of the director only. But unfortunately after the release it was happened a big negative boomerang to the film. Highly disappointed from the side of VP. Now I must say that "Mankatha" is the 'GOAT' Work of Venkat Prabhu. ๐Ÿ’ฏ

A Disappointed Work of Yuvan Shankar Raja

Yuvan set a benchmark songs and score 13 years back in the same director's movie - 'Mankatha', but here he was highly disappointed me as a U1 fan. Strictly average songs and background score.

Below Average VFX Quality

The visual effects aren't upto the level of the production cost of the film. As per the producers announced that the budget of the film is 400Cr. But my question is where is that money used in this film ??? I didn't see anything in the movie related to the cost of the film. Is it my problem or something else ??? Idk.๐Ÿ™

Makeup & Editing Department

The length of the film is 3hr 3min duration. If the editor should trim, it could have been more better and engaging than this lengthy version. Also the costumes and makeup department could have been used more quality in their materials. The funnier thing is that even the hairstyle of the father and the son characters was similarly matching and how it could be possible my God ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ™

My Opinion ๐Ÿ‘‡

Overall "The Greatest of All Time" is Strictly An Average One Time Watchable Flick for me. If you are a Thalapathy fan you should experience it in the Cinemas atleast one time only. Also I'm not recommending this film for the normal audience.
