A Film by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller
The movie follows Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), a science teacher who wakes up on a Spaceship with no memory of how he got there or even his own name. He soon realizes he is humanity's last hope to stop a "space plague" that is dimming the sun. The heart of the film is his unexpected Encounter and Friendship with an alien engineer named Rocky, as they work together using science to save both their worlds.
POSITIVES
The Amazing Cast and Performances ๐๐
Ryan Gosling - He is the perfect choice for this role. He brings a "clumsy genius" energy—he’s smart, but he’s also scared and funny. It’s a very human performance.
Even though Rocky is an alien, he steals the show. The movie uses a mix of real puppets and digital effects to make him feel like a real character you actually care about.
Sandra Hรผller As Eva Stratt (the woman in charge of the mission), she is firm and tough, but the movie gives her a few emotional moments that make her more likable than she was in the book.
Visuals and Sound Department ❤๐ฅ
It was shot by the same person who did Dune, so it looks Massive and more Beautiful. The scenes in Deep Space are Stunning, especially if you see it in IMAX. Because the movie is filmed for IMAX.
Since Rocky communicates through musical tones, the sound design is very important. It’s immersive and makes the alien language feel real.
Science Vs. Fun ๐
The book has a lot of heavy math. The movie keeps the "Spirit" of the science but uses quick montages to explain things so the story never gets boring or slow.
Unlike many "End of the World" movies that are dark and sad, this one is very Optimistic and "Feel-good."

My Opinion
Project Hail Mary is a smart, high-stakes Sci-fi adventure that feels like a "buddy comedy" in Deep Space. If you already read the book, then you will enjoy this flick.
